Each season starting in April, anyone is able to rent out the Cynthiana-Harrison County Recreation Department's softball fields to hold tournaments. The two softball fields - one with lights - can easily handle a 12-15 team tournament each weekend. The cost per season is based upon the number of teams competing.

The Recreation Department operates a concession stand and prepares the fields for play Saturday & Sunday. You are responsible for supplying umpires, scorekeepers and teams. You are also responsible for picking up the trash around the fields. As well, you are also expected to enforce our No Alcohol policy.

Every weekend, field reservations will be posted. Playing times and number of teams participating must be submitted to the Recreation Department no later than 9:00 p.m. Wednesday. In case of inclement weather, the Recreation Department has final say on field conditions in determining cancellations/postponements.

Softball Leagues

Along with Softball tournaments the recreation department also offers adult softball leagues held throughout the summer. These leagues are played starting at 6:30 each night and begin in Mid may And continue up till September. The following Leagues are offered:

Monday Night Church League
This league is NSA rule softball. This league has no Home Run Limit and you hit your own .47 cor. Softball. The Recreation Department hires umpires and scorekeepers for this league and the entry fee is based upon the number of teams. Each Game has a 1 hour time limit, no inning starts when the hour is reached. Teams will play a regular season schedule plus a end of season tournament. The best teams are awarded trophies for league and tournament.

Wednesday Night Independent League
This league begins middle of May. This league offers no home run limit and you hit your own .47 cor softballs. The Recreation Department hires umpires and scorekeepers for this league awarding trophies to the best teams in the league and end of season tournament. Games start weekly at 6:30 and the entry fee is based upon the total number of teams.

Friday Night Church Fun Softball League
This league is for everyone in the church. This league features Men hitting a 16" softball and women and children under 15 hitting a mens softball. A team may bat as many players as it wants,but only 10 are allowed to play defense at one time. Games have an hour time limit with no team scoring more than 10 runs in one inning. This league begins in the middle of May. No player under the age of 13 may play in the infield including catcher. The Recreation Department supplies umpires, scorekeepers and balls for this league. The best teams are awarded trophies.

Sunday Afternoon Industrial Independent League
This league begins in mid May and is played on Sunday afternoons starting at 1:00 pm. This league is played by NSA rules with no home run limit. The Recreation Department supplies umpires and scorekeepers, teams supply there own .47 cor softballs.

The fee for this league is based upon the number of teams and trophies are awarded to the best teams.

Big Ball Co-Ed League
This league is played on Sunday afternoons and is played upon the little league fields. This league starts when little league is finished with the fields. Teams consist of 5 men and 5 women or youth under age 15. The men hit a 16" softball while the women and youth use a regular mens softball. There is no homerun limit and teams must bat alternating order and must play defense with an alternating order. The fee for this league is based upon the number of teams. The recreation Department supplies umpires, scorekeepers, and the balls for this league. Teams play a regular season and an end of season tournament weather permitting. The best teams are awarded tee shirts for league and tournament.

Womens Softball League
Teams are sought every season for a womens slow pitch softball league. This league would be played on Sunday Afternoons with enough interest.
