The Cynthiana-Harrison County Recreation Department operates River Road Park. This park offers six baseball diamonds, outdoor basketball, a picnic shelter, a small playground, and shaded picnic tables along the south fork of the licking river. A new batting cage is being constructed in early spring. The Recreation Office is housed here from late-March until mid-October. Public Restrooms are available. There is also a boat launching ramp maintained by the State Fish and Wildlife, and fishing along the banks of the river.

The Sherman Oliver Ross Park is located on the east side of the Licking River on Water Street in Cynthiana. This park offers a picnic shelter, outdoor lighted basketball, two playgrounds, and a ¼ mile walking track under construction.

The East Pleasant Street Park is located between East Pleasant Street and Wilson Avenue behind the city Fire Station No. 2. This park offers outdoor basketball, two picnic shelters, and a new state of the art playground constructed in the year 2000. This park is also a quite popular during the winter months with sledders and snow boarders.

The City Hall Gym is owned by the city of Cynthiana and is located on East Pleasant Street. The gym is utilized by the Recreation Department for many activities. The Recreation Department Basketball leagues play and practice here starting in early-November and continue until late-March. The City Hall Gym is available for rent to the public at $20.00 per hour for playing basketball, volleyball. During the basketball season Friday, Saturday nights and all day on Sundays are set aside for this purpose. The Recreation office is housed here from late-October until late-March.

A new recreation park is in its infancy stages. This Park will be located on U.S. 62 east of Cynthiana on Oddville Aveune. The public will be asked to help plan and design this park to best serve all citizens of Cynthiana.
